Eastern South Dakota In a year chock full of disappointments during storm chasing, June 17th was the lone bright spot, thanks largely to this beautiful sunset supercell in eastern South Dakota. This wall cloud had just recycled and was nearly stationary, allowing me to photograph it for several minutes as the sun set under it and lit it aglow with soft, warm light. Despite the lack of tornadoes or other epic weather shenanigans, this scene describes more than any other why I storm chase.
